Grand-D's house

We went to Houston last weekend to visit Grand-D and to go to Shane's highschool reunion.
Friday night we went to the FBBA homecoming football game.
Shane and Jordan in front of their old lockers.
Notice the death-grip Avery has on Grand-D's shirt :)
Lots of babies born to the class of 2000!!
Carson and Avery loved the football game.
I was really nervous about taking Carson because of all of the noise.
I can't even dry my hair with him in the bathroom because it scares him.
He did so great!!
He stared and smiled at the band eveytime they played, and he clapped his hands everytime people cheered. I was schocked!!
Guess we need to go to some more football games!
The babies loved playing in Grand-D's backyard.
Eating dirt!!
And they loved playing in the bookshelf.
I mean, really, why do I buy toys??
We took Carson and Avery down to the Waterway in the Woodlands so see the Koi fish and play in the sprinkler fountains.

Yes, we were those people letting our kids run around in a public fountain in nothing but their diapers. They had fun though!!

Sunday morning, Carson and Avery had their first trip to the park.
They, of course, loved it!!
First time in the swings.

What a fun weekend!!

The Zoo

Carson and Avery had their first trip to the zoo last week.
Daddy took the day off and we went to the Dallas Zoo for their birthday.
Uncle Ryan, Aunt Tiffani, Kennedy and Taylor went too.
It was so fun!!

Love this picture!
Sweet cousins.

Avery with Uncle Ryan
Taylor
KennedySo curious!
We saw an albino alligator (yes, he's real!!).....
....some snakes...
.....cute, playful penguins....
.....but our favorite were the giraffes!
Carson loved them! Avery was a little scared.

Have you ever seen such a long tongue?
We had a fun family day at the zoo!
Carson and Avey had their 1 year appt. yesterday.
Carson was 22lbs (50%) and 31in long (75%)
Avery was 19lbs 8oz (25%) and 29.5in long (50%)
One year ago Carson was 5lb 10oz and Avery was 6lb.
It's crazy that in a year they can nearly triple and quadruple their weights.
They're so big!!

Wow, how they've grown!!

7 months
8 months
9 months
10 months
11 months
12 months

At one year Carson and Avery:
-are walking everywhere. They now prefer walking to crawling.
-have started to climb more. Carson can climb onto the ottoman and the couch if there is anything on the floor to stand on. Which scares his mommy.
-are drinking whole milk, which they love. But still using the bottle. They still aren't that great at the sippy cup, so I give them a couple of bottles a day. We're working on weaning though.
-are both really attached to their blankets. Avery's is her silk lovey and Carson's is his green knit blanket. They want to carry them everywhere.
-are saying more words and sounds. Avery says, "uh, uh, uh" (which means uh-oh) anytime she drops something or falls. She can tell you what a duck and a monkey say. Carson can tell you what a lion says. They both say puppy, mama, dada, mimi, papa, baba. And they're trying to imitate noises and facial expressions more now. Avery was trying to blow her nose on her hand after watching my dad blow his nose.
-are still really good eaters. They will eat anything really.
-and they of course are still the sweetest, busiest, cutest babies I know!!

Tomorrow...sigh

Well tomorrow is the big day. The first birthday.
And honestly, I'm sad.
I know that I am so incredibly blessed to have two happy healthy babies, but I can't help but feel a little sad about their first year being over.
It is so hard for me to believe that one year ago I was sitting around waiting to meet my two sweet babies. It feels like we've always had them, and it's only been a year.
Anyway, I am sad about my babies growing up too fast, but I am so excited about celebrating their first birthday tomorrow.

We've had a fun week so far! This past weekend we went to Oklahoma to move into our cabin that is finally finished. We started building this cabin last spring and we are so excited for it to be done. My family has been going to Broken Bow, OK for many, many years so we are excited about being able to take our kids there as they grow up. We are planning on renting the cabin out when we aren't using it so we have a lot of stuff to do up there. But we were able to at least get started.

Carson was such a big helper. Though he didn't like it when mommy climbed up on top of the ladder. He cried the whole time I was up there. I think he's going to be a worrier. He takes after me I guess.
Helping unload some boxes.
I couln't resist putting on the camo and overalls. I think I heard a banjo start playing as I was sanpping his overalls on.....haha!!

Carson loves his Papa!
Avery's first ponytail.
The babies loved playing outside on the patio.

We woke up Sunday morning to some beautiful fall weather. It's so nice to be able to play outside any time of the day. I love the fall!!
Love these sweet babies!! They are so much fun!
