4 Month Old Jumpers

Well, I guess I should say 4 month old sitters because their feet don't quite touch the floor yet. But they still love their new jumper!!
They love being able to sit up and look at the toys and lights. The long strand of plastic rings are their favorite toy right now.
Happy Babies!!
Carson and Avery turned 4 months old yesterday. Where have these past 4 months gone?
At 4 months they are:
-rolling front to back and back to front. (Avery just rolled from back to front as I was writing this post. I knew she wouldn't let her brother show her up for long. Video to come!!)
-reaching and grabbing their toys that hang above them in the activity gym
-they can spot us from across the room now and follow us with their eyes
-they love, love, love bath time. I'm going to have to move them to the big bathtub soon because they are sloshing water all over the floor in the kitchen when they kick.
-they love when we talk and sing to them. And they don't even care that I have a terrible voice!
-their favorite thing right now is their hands
Avery has become quite the little sleep fighter. She is WAY too busy to nap. There is just too much to do and see, that sleep is just not on her agenda. She does OK during the night, still getting up at least once to eat. During the day she usually just catnaps in her swing. Her favorite things are her paci, her hands, and her silk lovey that MiMi made her. She likes to rub her face on the silk while she's falling asleep. It is so sweet.
This is her latest thing. She puckers her lips and blows spit bubbles.
Shane calls it her Zoolander look.
Carson has started fighting his sleep some too during the day. He likes to be rocked to sleep. But once he's out, he'll take a good long nap. He has slept through the night a couple of times, but usually gets up once to eat still. He usually wakes up so happy and is so excited when we come to get him up from his nap. His favorite things right now are his paci, his hands, and his green knit blanket his great-aunt made him. He is such a sweet, cuddly boy.
Our 4 month check up is next week, so I'll post all thier latest info then.
We leave for Colorado today for our ski trip. This will be Carson and Avery's first time on a plane. I'm a little nervous, but I think they will do ok. Please pray for a safe trip and happy babies on the plane ride.

Go Carson

Carson rolled from back to front yesterday (1/19). I couldn't believe it. I put him in the play gym on his back and went in the kitchen and when I came back he was on his belly. Avery was the first one to see it, but he quickly did it again for mommy. So proud of him.

I think he's pretty proud of his new trick because now everytime I lay him on his back he flips right over onto his belly.

Just Sweet

Just wanted to post some pictures of the babies from this past week.
They are growing and changing so much.
They are starting to notice each other more and more.
Here they are smiling and talking to each other.
My cute little Carson. Love the hat!!
Beautiful girl!!
We had our first little playdate this past week with some friends from church. Here is Avery and Carson with Ava and Rylin. The babies were so cute together and it was fun to have some mommy time as well.
We had a great week and are looking foward to a long weekend (full of football watching..... go Cowboys). Shane has Monday off, so we are excited to have Daddy home for an extra day!

3 months

Carson and Avery turned 3 months old on Tuesday. And Carson got a very special present for his 3 month "birthday"...... an ear infection!! The babies picked up a little bug during Christmas and started having cough, congestion, and fever on Monday. We went to the Dr. on Tuesday and it thankfully was just an upper respiratory infection. The flu and RSV were negative. Carson however did have an ear infection, poor guy. They were pretty miserable this past week, but they are finally feeling better. And I was much more calm and rational this time around!!
Here we are at 3 months
At 3 months we are:
-rolling from front to back
-smiling and "talking" a lot
-still eating every 3 hours during the day
-sleeping one good 5-6 hour stretch at night (most nights at least)
-interacting more with mommy and daddy
-staring and smiling at our toys

Carson:
Carson is such a sweet boy. He loves to be held and cuddled. At 3 months he weighs 13lbs 11oz. We can't believe how much he has grown. He was so tiny when he was born, now he's huge. Carson is still very laid back and patient (most of the time). He is so happy and smiles all the time. He loves to sit in our laps and "talk" to us. He makes the sweetest little noises.
Avery:
At 3 months, Avery weighs 12lbs 6oz. She has so much energy and loves to lay in her play gym and kick the toys hanging above her. She gets bored very easily and wants to be up on your shoulder looking around. She loves lights, noise, and people (loud restaurants keep her very entertained). We have discovered that Avery loves the TV. I know that babies aren't supposed to watch the TV, but the other night I put on her belly and she held her head up and watched football for like 10 minutes. Shane was so proud, i think she's going to be his football watching buddy when she gets bigger.
3 months also marks the end of my maternity leave. I am going back to work just one day a week for now and tomorrow is my first day back. I can't believe that it's already time. I'm excited though and a little nervous. It's been so long, I hope I remember how to be a nurse. Please pray for a great first day back!

Christmas Memories

What a great Christmas we had this year!! We were blessed to be able to spend the holidays with both sides of our family this year. The babies got a LOT of attention!
Christmas Eve my mom, mother-in-law Diane, Carson, Avery, and I went to the Gaylord Texan resort to walk through the ice exhibit. It was a Grinch theme this year; it's amazing what these artists can do with ice. We bundled the babies up and they went in with us. I was hoping that no one would call CPS on me for taking my babies into a 9 degree freezer. Don't worry, they were plenty warm as you can see from the pictures below.
Here's Carson, ready to go see the Grinch Avery and Mimi
Us with the giant Grinch ice sculpture, we look like snowmen in the jackets they give you to wear.
Christmas Eve night we went to our church candlelight service. The music was beautiful and the sermon was great. I was so glad that we were able to take the babies. They were really good.
Family picture at church.
Then we went over to my parents and spent the rest of the evening with our family and good friends.
Here we are playing our traditional game of left, right, center with the Millers.
Group shot on Christmas Eve at my parents house.
Shane's grandparents flew in from Florida and luckily got here Christmas Eve before all the ice and snow.
Here's Carson and Avery with their great-grandparents
Who would have thought that we'd have a white Chirstmas. It was so fun to wake up to a beautiful blanket of snow Christmas morning.
We went back to my parents house Christmas morning to open presents with my family.
Carson and Avery in their Christmas jammies
It was so fun to watch my niece Kennedy get excited about Christmas. This year she asked Santa for a, "pink sewing machine, a pink pen, and a pink iPhone." So being the awesome aunt and uncle that we are, Shane dug out his old iPhone and I painted the clear case pink and put glitter on it and we gave it to her for Chirstmas. Every 2 year old needs an iPhone right?
After opening gifts and eating breakfast at my parents, we went back to our house to open gifts with Shane's family. We spent the day with Shane's mom, grandparents, uncle Jerry, cousin Catherine, uncle Travis, and aunt JJ.
Here I am with my little Christmas angels in front of our tree.
Carson and Avery made quiet a haul this year. Lots of toys to play with this next year.
Daddy and his sweet smiling girl
Carson and Avery turned 3 months old today. However, this post is long enough so I will write about all their 3 month stuff later this week.
We hope everyone had a blessed Chirstmas and a Happy New Year!

Busy month

Wow, I can't believe that it's two days away from Christmas. Where has this month gone? I finally have all the shopping, wrapping, and Christmas preparations complete. Carson and Avery have been troopers with all of our errand running and shopping we've done these past few weeks. It is getting easier to get out and about with them. They are good shoppers!!
I've had fun this year getting into the Christmas spirit with my little babies here! We've been playing Christmas music, watching Christmas movies, and tonight we are going to make some Christmas cookies.
We've been able to go to a couple of Christmas parties, with the help of our awesome baby sitters MiMi and PaPa!! This is a picture of all the girls at our Bible Study Chirstmas party. I'm so blessed to work with so many amazing Chirstian ladies! Love these girls!!
We also celebrated Shane's 28th birthday last week. We went to eat at Texas de Brazil with some of our good friends!! Happy belated birthday to my amazing husband. He is such a great husband, father, and friend. I can't imagine figuring out life with anyone else!!
Carson and Avery are finally able to sit in the Bumbos. Their heads still bob around a little, but they are getting more control.
This is our latest sleep aid, it's called a Woombie. It replaced the swaddle blankets when the babies started busting out multiple times a night. I got tired of swaddling and reswaddling all night long, so we thought we'd give these woombies a try. And the babies seem to really like them. They are really stretchy so they can move their arms around inside of it, but they can't get their arms free. They kinda look like they are in jail, but I really think it helps them sleep better.
Sweet faces! I love these babies so much!!
Hope everyone has a great holiday season, celebrating the birth of our savior!
Merry Chirstmas!

The stockings are hung

We finally have the house decorated for Christmas. What I can usually get done in one Saturday has taken me two weeks. I guess that's to be expected with two babies. We decided to get a real Christmas tree this year. Shane grew up cutting down his own Christmas tree with his family, so he wanted to start that traditon with our kids as well. So we packed up the babies and drove about an hour away to a tree farm to search for the perfect tree. It really is a fun experience, just a little difficult to do with twins.
Carson all ready to go cut down his first tree.
Avery, bundled up and ready to go! It was freezing!
I tried my hardest to put both the babies in the Moby wrap. I probably tried for 30 minutes to get both of them in there..... they just don't fit anymore. So after a lot of frustration, we decided to each carry a baby.
Which resulted in...............
...........Super daddy cutting down a tree with a baby strapped to him!
And the final result!!
One more cute Christmas picture of the babies at our ABF Christmas party!
I love this time of year so much. This Christmas is going to be so much fun. I can't wait to spend it with my new little family! What a blessing!
